Not for the faint of heart

Trieman's text is probably a bit much for general user attempting to find a better grasp of quantitative research. He reviews a great deal of his own work and tends to go into a happy place that left me scratching my head from time to time. When providing introductory discussion on topics, things tend to go rather well with the clarity. However, the author just seems to abruptly cease to explain effectively and completely before sharing information on his own research.
Overall, it is not the ideal book for anyone seeking a better understanding of the concepts when you are not well versed in statistics. There are several text books that are much that offered by Corbetta or Creswell.

Wonderful book for Quantitative Data Analysis

This is a wonderful book for quantitative data analysis. It provides a thorough review of key quantitative techniques used in social science research. Statistics books can be super complicated, but the author does a wonderful job isolating essential information necessary to use the technique. Finally, the author offers examples of how to use the technique by providing sample STATA programs employing the technique in question. This book is a must have for all social science researchers doing quantitative data analysis. I recommend it highly!

Nicely written and very practical

I admit that I was attracted by the author's name at the beginning. But after taking a good look at it, I find it very useful as a reference and I have to go back to it again and again. This is a graduate level beginner's text who use Stata for their own research.
