Super if you have a child who is scared of the doctor

Bought this for my son when he was 18mth old He was terrified every time we visited the doctor. Since he is an die hard fan of Sesame Street, seeing Elmo smile, laugh, and converse lovingly with the doctor has help ease his tensions. He knows doctors are there to help, not hurt, and I guess he figures if Elmo does it, it must not be bad.

My 2 year old loves Elmo and loves to play doctor. This is a great book! I would definitely recommend it to all other "doctors" and kids visiting the doctor's office.

My grandson was terrified to go to the pediatrican. He screamed when he went to the office, would not take his clothes off, and refused to weighed or measured. He loves Elmo, so I bought this book for his second birthday which was just a few days before his two year old checkup. We read the book to him and my daughter took it to the appointment. The encounter was unremarkable. He let them do everthing they wanted with no tears or screams. I recommend this for anyone with young children who are afraid of going to the doctor.

The pictures help illustrate the tricks and feature kids in costumes--vampires, witches, ghosts, and werewolves abound (the authors credit young friends in their New York apartment as their inspiration). Spooky Reviews Up My Sleeve...

This was one of my favorites in elementary school. Although I only did a few of the simple tricks, it still fascinated me. It is an easy-reader. My daughter has a little trouble reading (eight years; 2nd grade), but she had no trouble reading this book. I suggest this book for fans of magic and creepiness, or just magic. The book is not scary, so no worries there. I just loved the ghost slant. Rose was an interesting gal. She wrote over fifty books on science and related subjects. Same with her husband, Ames. He wrote the famous "Secrets in Stone". Stubis was a famous graphic artist, and he even designed movie and theater posters. He did about two dozen kids' books, and worked frequently with Rose and Gerald. Pics are done in neutrals and shades of orange. This book was reissued in '94 due to it being a classic. Hope it will be reissued again in the future. Copyright 1968.

A real expert at his craft!

Did you know that there’s a profession that can make you forget your worries for a while and help you to enjoy the lighter side of life? Tis the profession of a stand-up comic. Stand-up comedy has the marvelous influence of bringing pleasure and joy to people for many years now. If you are good at making people laugh and you love to tell jokes than this may be the book for you. Simon Cavalli is a real expert at this craft, and he has put together this easy to follow, one step at a time, methodical read, on how you can master the art of comedy. Simon, a comic himself has firsthand experience to guild you in a easy to follow and fun way, into possibly the job you have dreamed of doing. He will go over such topics as pre-gig preparation, and how to prepare yourself intellectually before you go on stage. He will open your eyes to things you may not have known, like who would have thought introverts make great comics? If you read this book you will definitely see that there was a lot of thought, time and first hand-knowledge put into this by a person who really cares about bringing joy to people as well as loves his art as a comic. My sister is one of the funniest people I know; she has a way of cracking me up with almost everything we talk about. I’m always telling her she needs to go to an open mic and try out stand-up comedy. This book is perfect for her and I can’t wait to give it to her. Thanks Simon for sharing your wonderful knowledge!

Love To Be Funny

I have always thought that being a comedian would be a very cool job, however, I have never had the nerve to try it. Luckily I live in a larger city with several comedy clubs so I go there often. I noticed they have an amateur night and have really been thinking about giving it a try. I picked up this book to help with pointers and also as motivation.

This book gives some great tips on things I had never thought of when it comes to being a comedian. I am for sure going to put a little more practice into my routine before I even take on amateur night. I was about to go wing it, but I think I would have not even been accepted. I am so glad I purchased this book so I can practice a little more. Maybe some day you guys will see my name in lights. That is my goal. Thanks for the great tips in this book.

A Great Guide for Beginners who wish to become Comedians!

This is a great book for everyone who would like to start in the acting field. It explains in details the techniques used in the acting field. I had acting modules at school, and we never learned the basic terms as they are described in this book. I find this book to be an excellent reference book, which could be used as school and university textbooks, as I see that it is also available as a printout!
