A PROPOS DE L'AUTEUR

Marie-Louise Mumbu (Bibish), née en 1975 à Bukavu (République démocratique du Congo), est journaliste et écrivain.
Diplômée en 2002 de l’Institut technique des Sciences de l’information et communication à Kinshasa (ISTI), et correspondante d’Africultures (revue culturelle trimestrielle), elle a été administratrice des studios Kabako jusqu’à l’été 2003. Elle a travaillé dans l’administration et la production pour différents artistes et projets culturels à travers le monde, elle a aussi participé à de nombreux ateliers d’écriture (Guy-Junior Régis, Olivier Coyette, Sonia Ristic, Odile Zeller, Jean-Luc Outers, Matthieu Malgrange).
Elle vit à Kinshasa, où elle est connue sous le nom de Bibish.

Dans la notion de choix, au Congo démocratique, il y a souvent des alternatives. Il n’y en a, généralement, que deux à Kinshasa. Quel que soit le domaine. Chrétiens ou musulmans, Skol ou Primus, Bracongo ou Bralima, Joseph Kabila ou Jean-Pierre Bemba, J.B. Mpiana ou Werrason, Wenge Maison Mère ou Wenge BCBG, Celtel ou Vodacom, MLC (Mouvement de libération du Congo) ou PPRD (Parti du peuple pour la reconstruction et la démocratie), etc. Alors, quand on aime par exemple la musique de Werrason, automatiquement on boit de la Skol, on est abonné chez Vodacom pour la téléphonie, on est chrétien protestant, et on est membre du PPRD, c’est-à-dire qu’on est pro Joseph Kabila… Et souvent les gens du MLC, qui ont fait de Jean-Pierre Bemba leur chairman, boivent de la Primus ou une autre boisson Bralima, sont des abonnés Celtel, aiment la musique de J.B. Mpiana et se disent 100 % BCBG…

Longhorn Beetles ― Cerambycidae are one of the most easily recognized groups of beetles, a family that worldwide encompasses over 33 000 species in 5200 genera. With over 1400 species classified in 300 genera, this is the sixth largest among 117 beetle families in Australia.

These beetles often attack and kill living forest or orchard trees and develop in construction timber (like the European House borer, introduced to WA), causing serious damage. Virtually all Cerambycidae feed on living or dead plant tissues and play a significant role in all terrestrial environments where plants are found. Larvae often utilize damaged or dead trees for their development, and through feeding on rotten wood form an important element of the saproxylic fauna, speeding energy circulation in these habitats. Many species are listed as quarantine pests because of their destructive role to the timber industry.

This second of three volumes on Australian Longhorn Beetles covers the taxonomy of genera of the Cerambycinae, with comments on natural history and morphology. One hundred and forty-two Cerambycinae genera are diagnosed and described, an illustrated key to their identification is provided, and images illustrate representatives of genera and of actual type specimens.

About the Author
Adam Slipinski did his PhD and DSc in Poland where he worked for 20 years at the Museum and Institute of Zoology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, and held a joint appointment as the professor of biology at the University of Zielona Gora teaching entomology and environmental biology.

Hermes Escalona earned his PhD in Entomology from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2012. He is interested in systematics, evolution, and historical biogeography of Coleoptera, with a current focus on Longhorns beetles (Cerambycidae) and small beetle families within Cucujiformia.
